I had this problem few days back. My WMP and WMC suddenly stop working. I was not able to open it. My sound drivers were working fine. Then I found this solution, this might help you too, if you have same issue. To resolve this: 1. Open cmd.exe is Admin mode. 2. type "regsvr32.exe jscript.dll". 3. type "regsvr32.exe vbscript.dll". 4. exit. Try now. I should work :)

Double-click the file to open it and notice that Notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the line after. 4.
